We’re Back: The Conscious Festival Returns To The Lion City In Fine Form

Singapore, we’re back with The Conscious Festival Powered by Holland & Barrett. And this year we are vegan, carbon-neutral and as close to zero waste as we can be. Just wait until you see what we’ve cooked up for you this time.

On behalf of the entire team at Green Is The New Black, we are hugely proud to announce that The Conscious Festival Powered by Holland & Barrett is returning to Singapore for what is shaping up to be our biggest and baddest edition yet. This November 2nd and 3rd 2019, we will transform Singapore into a vibrant mecca of conscious living alongside more than 100 mindful brands, forward-thinking entrepreneurs and inspirational speakers who are experts in their fields. Here is a snapshot of what’s going down:

Welcome to our new home

This year we’re moving to South Beach (26 Beach Road), an eco-friendly lifestyle destination with a wave-like microclimatic canopy that naturally mimics a calming sea breeze all while harvesting renewable energy and green water. The sprawling development exemplifies Singapore’s vision of it becoming a garden and is the winner of two Green Mark Platinum Awards as well as the Sustainable Development category at the FIABCI Singapore Awards. It’s not hard to understand why we’re working with this incredible venue for this year’s edition of The Conscious Festival.

“Climate Change Is Real”

In June of this year, Green Is The New Black cofounders Stephanie Dickson and Paula Miquelis went on an expedition to the Arctic aboard the National Geographic Explorer and witnessed the effects of global warming firsthand. The trip inspired and then laid the groundwork for this year’s theme: Climate Change is Real.

“This year has been a huge one for the planet,” says Dickson. “We’ve seen eco-anxiety grip the world, fires obliterate the Amazon, and climate deniers are in power. But we’ve also seen more people fighting the good fight, and movements like #FridaysForFuture and Extinction Rebellion instil some hope in humanity. It’s times like these where I feel both disempowered yet full of hope. However, I’m still optimistic and that our actions can turn this around. Anyone feeling lost or needing a little extra help navigating their way through this paradigm will find themselves not alone at the festival, but instead amongst a community where we can take action and grow together as a collective”.

We’ve gone vegan

Vegan menus have always dominated every edition of The Conscious Festival but this time we’ve upped the ante and will be 100% vegan, a first for the Singapore edition. Attendees can expect a marketplace full of vegan-friendly products and innovative mouth-watering food. Organic alcohol will also be available for those more inclined.

Thank you to Holland & Barrett

The magic of this year is largely thanks to Holland & Barrett International, who is one of the world’s leading health and wellness retailers. For more than 145 years, Holland & Barrett have been supplying its customers with a wide range of vitamins, minerals, health supplements, specialist foods and natural beauty products. Already a familiar sight in almost every major city and town across the UK, the brand is becoming increasingly more visible further afield, now appearing in health markets in Singapore, China and India.

The Conscious Festival Powered by Holland & Barrett takes place on Saturday 2nd November, and Sunday 3rd November at South Beach, 26 Beach Road in Singapore. Follow the event on Facebook for more updates.
