Your Official Round Up Of The Workshops You Can’t Miss At The Conscious Festival Powered by Holland & Barrett

WORKSHOPS return to the Conscious Festival powered by Holland & Barrett in Singapore this year and are a feast for your mind and motivation. Immerse yourself in engaging workshops with experts sharing sustainable practices and improving your overall sense of health and wellness – come one person, leave another.

We don’t just want to talk about sustainability, we want to teach about sustainability. And the best way to do that is through hands-on activities—better known as workshops. We’ve lined up an exciting array of not-your-typical workshops that will have you dancing, building, learning, and connecting with yourself and Mother Earth. This year, there are a total of seven sessions that are lead by experts looking to share their wisdom and wealth with you. Here we go:

MONDAY

Start your weekend with a dance

Ecstatic dance is a style of free form dance in which the music is the teacher. Join us on Saturday morning to open the festival with this unique experience that started on the island of Ibiza. DJs will lead the event and your only job is to allow your body to move exactly how it wants to move, nothing else. Radical self-expression and costumes are encouraged.

Play a card game that teaches about SDGs

Facts can be boring, we know this. So Risa Hatayama turned them into a game. Join Risa and transform you mindset to creating sustainable world through a multiplayer, in-person, card-based game called 2030SDG. The gist of it simulates the “real world” in the year 2030 while players learn about the UN Sustainable Development Goals. You’ll leave learning how to contribute to a more sustainable world.

Learn to upcycle with Rehyphen®

Ready, Cassette, Go! is an upcycling workshop that will teach participants to weave a cassette or videotape into a piece of MusicCloth®! In case you don’t know what a cassette is (yep, these people do exist…they’re called millennials), they are how the 80s and 90s listened to music and watched movies. While epic and revolutionary in terms of technological advancements in media, all their little plastic components are still sitting on this planet. In Asia alone, 4.6 million tons of e-waste has ended up in its landfills. In this workshop led by J.J. Chuan, you’ll be guided through an artsy process that will further turn your MusicCloth® into a map of Singapore. If you’re starting to think about that perfect sustainable Christmas gift for your parent or grandparent, this could be it.

This year, the Conscious Festival is offering a unique experience that will allow people explore these challenges through one-on-one coaching. After the session, you’ll be better prepared to embark on your conscious journey by embracing a new lifestyle by integrating essential qualities.

SUNDAY

Learn how to (really) breathe with Being Sattvaa

The science of yoga starts with the breath, and this workshop will teach you how to breathe (again). Led by Subba Vaidyanathan, co-founder of Being Satvaa, he will teach participants to use the magic of breath to heal, energise and empower. You’ll go back to the basics when it comes to breathing before progressing using the methods prescribed in ancient texts that combine breath, gestures and sound to reach a point of absolute stillness. In the modern world, we can all benefit from everyday tips on how to use our breath in our daily life to discover and live with enthusiasm, energy and calmness.

Reconnect and realign with Mother Earth

To be truly sustainable, means we need to be in harmony first. And to de-stress, relax and rebalance, one must first find harmony and that starts with meditation. Led by Hui Lee from The Golden Space, this session will guide participants in rebalancing their body energetic field to be in the flow of harmony and alignment with Mother Earth, leaving you feeling more at peace and grounded in your everyday life.

Get your dance on in a playshop

This workshop sheds its serious image and instead embraces the idea of a play shop where people can kick off their shoes and dance like no one’s watching. The Alchemy of Dance is designed to create trust and freedom for inward connection with self and outer connection with one and other, as a community. Throughout the experience, participants will experience an increased awareness with their inner being and intuition. It’s an intuitive movement practice that incorporates meditation, Chi Gong, Tai Chi, Yoga, dance, brain-pattern rewiring visualisation and heart-brain coherent practices.
