1. Singapore’s battle with disposable plastic addiction
Eco-Business dove deep to understand why Singaporeans use an unconscionable 13 plastic bags a day! Unfortunately, retailers are set up to feed the obsession with convenience and with numbers increasing, there is a plastic waste time bomb ticking. However, there is a bright side with local companies and organisations fighting the good fight and you can join too.
Time to break up with plastic.
2. Sunburned? You’re not the only one.
2018 is on pace to be the fourth hottest year on record. Only three other years have been hotter: 2015, 2016 and 2017… we’re seeing a scary pattern here. Climate change is stacking the cards up against us with certain extremes more frequent and more intense. The impacts of climate change are no longer subtle.
Can we escape the ticking time bomb?
3. Cycle to clean, in a canal.
We bike to school, we bike to hang out with friends and some of us bike to do crazy stunts. But for Dhruv, he bikes to clean up trash. Where? In London’s waterways. An avid cyclist and environmentalist, he hacked his handy bike into one fit for collecting plastic trash in canals. Plus, his bicycle is made from bamboo.

4. Leave nothing but footprints
We all wear flip-flops, they’re perfect for the summer and for all our lazy days. But did you know it requires a lot of petroleum to have that rubber strapped onto our feet? Allbird is here to change the game. They produce flip-flops made from sugar cane, which pulls carbon from the environment and converts them to sugar.
With these, you’ll truly leave nothing but footprints on our planet.
5. Become a walking air-purifier
A shirt that cleans the air as you wear it. The shirt is comfortable, yet the material is capable of absorbing harmful pollutants in the air into this Breath fabric that can be removed and replaced. It is also produced ethically, where workers aren’t mistreated nor exploited. Aptly named RepAir (haha, like repair. Get it?). It’s now available on Kickstarter.
