KNOWN FOR
Artisanal sweaters, ethically handmade in Bolivia, in natural local fibres.
ABOUT THE BRAND
JOSÉ sweaters are woven by craftsmen who are paid to the height of their talent. The fibres they choose are of high quality, 100% natural and from South America. JOSÉ’s goal is to help their workshops grow whilst producing high-quality sweaters for a fair price.
VISION & MISSION
JOSÉ’s mission is to firstly help the artisans export their know-how around the world. Secondly, they are giving artisans the opportunity to share their work, and paying them well too. Ultimately, they wish to preserve craftsmanship in Bolivia while being respectful to the environment.
WHY THEY’RE CONSCIOUS
They ensure that the sweaters that they make are handmade by artisans who are paid well and working in fair conditions. Additionally, they’re working on becoming more environmentally-friendly, starting with removing plastic packaging and replacing it with simple craft paper instead.
WHAT’S THEIR FIGHT
POWER TO THE PEOPLE: They supports 50 artisans in Bolivia, and they are all working in fair trade workshops. JOSÉ’s goal is to preserve the ancient know-how of mesh-crafting.
CRYSTAL CLEAR: They are very transparent about their artisans, their workshops, and the production process of their artisanal sweaters. Check out the stories behind their production on their website!
ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
Amelie created JOSÉ in September 2017, having had professional experience with l’Oréal as an e-commerce project manager. Her taste for travel pushed her to work with and showcase the Bolivian artisans. These Bolivian artisans are incredibly skilled and have precious local know-how. This, as well as her crush on the Inca motifs unique to the artisans, inspired her to start a brand. As a brand, JOSÉ prioritises social responsibility and ethics, and thus Amelie prioritises her artisans, and ensures the best, to have an overall positive impact on the humans and the environment she works with.
