KNOWN FOR
Fashion rental platform to reduce textile waste.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Wardrobista is derived from the word “Wardrobe”. It is a community of fashionistas who want to best utilize the limited wardrobe space by having a dynamic closet mixed of rental items & the favourite pieces that cannot be shared (e.g. shoes, lingerie). They want to reduce wastage in fashion by renting items that are worn/ used very few times (e.g. gowns, evening clutches, cover-ups for vacations). “Own the look, not the dress” is the fashion motto.
Wardrobista was started in February 2017, offering clothing & accessories rental service that frees up space in modern wardrobes. Over 50 designer brands now available online. There is also a pop-up store on the last Sunday of every month!
WHY THEY’RE CONSCIOUS
Fashion is one of the most polluting industries. It produces hundreds of tonnes of waste from disposal of clothing each year. Wardrobista is established on the motto of “Shop Less, Rent More”. By renting and sharing some under-utilized items in the wardrobe that are used only very few times each year, they hope to reduce wastage whilst still looking good.
They offer rentals on evening dresses, faux fur coats, evening bags and kaftans. There is also a “Share Your Dress” program which is a platform for ladies to share their barely used items with an audience of a similar mindset.
WHAT’S THEIR FIGHT
PROTECT THE PLANET: To build a platform for wardrobe sharing.
ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
Wardrobista was founded by a pair of best friends since high school Elaine Fong & Joey Li.
Flooded with wedding invitations, Joey & Elaine first had the idea of “Wardrobe Sharing” when they had to attend a destination wedding together. Hoping to extend the lifecycle of occasionwear, and hence reducing fashion disposal, they started Wardrobista – a new form of retail business.
Both of them graduated from UCL. Elaine has been working in the fashion/ retail industry since her graduation and Joey has a wealth of experience in digital marketing and e-commerce development. They make a perfect match to start Wardrobista, an online Dress Sharing Platform based in Hong Kong.
