WHY THEY’RE CONSCIOUS
Their organic latex mattresses and pillows are made of the sap of the rubber tree from an organic latex plantation. No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used to grow these trees. Therefore, not only are the soil and the rubber tappers not exposed to harmful chemicals, the end products (organic latex mattresses and pillows) are also free from off-gassing harmful chemicals. Hevea Brasiliensis, the tree which produces natural latex, is among the most ecological trees in the world. A single Hevea tree absorbs about 1.8 tons of CO² in its life time, similar to a rainforest tree. The rubber trees provide latex their whole life and are not damaged in the process. To sleep comfortably, having a good bed base is also important. In our shop, we also carry adjustable slatted bed bases made of FSC certified beech wood.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Stefan Magnus has been living in Asia for 27 years. His wife is Indonesian Chinese and they have a three-year-old son, who is going to The Green School in Bali. He has been working for most of his career in the mattress business. Having visited mattress manufacturers in Asia for 25 years, he realized that by merely supplying high quality components, he wasn’t going to bring high quality mattresses to Asia. The Asian mattress industry is dominated by American brands, which focus on making big and impressive mattresses. Heveya® by European mattresses are more focused on comfort and durability. A bit the Mercedes vs Hummer stereotype. That prompted him to start a business of finished mattresses for consumers, and Heveya® by European Bedding was born. His goal was from the beginning very clear: ‘to have only happy customers’. So they had to develop the best possible mattress. As latex gives the best comfort and back support and is more lasting than any other material, they developed a mattress made 100% of natural latex. No metal springs, no chemical memory or PU foams, no glue. His passion for environmental care prompted him to look for latex from a plantation which was organically certified. His supplier is also carbon neutral certified and has the Fair Choice certificate, which gives them and their customers peace of mind about the whole production process and the mattress they sleep on every day, 8 hours per day for ten or more years.
