Tag your it! You may have seen a lot of videos buzzing around your social feeds with #BeatPlasticPollution and people tagging each other. Well the UN Environment challenged the world to join their game of tag to launch a global movement to show positive changes we can make in our plastic consumption. We’re all about ’em #LittleGreenSteps so we’ve summarised a few of our fave celebrity videos for your enjoyment and inspiration!
This game of tag challenges people to share which single-use plastic they are ready to give up and the reusable alternative they are choosing instead. Then of course tag a few friends or businesses with the #BeatPlasticPollution to spread the game!
Adrian Grenier (AKA your fave actor from Entourage) giving up straws because ‘we use over 500 million of these suckers every day in the US alone’.
Moby is giving up plastic bottles ‘horrifying fact, we use 1 million plastic water bottles every minute of every day’!
Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness actress) checks in from her toilet to share she’s giving up plastic tampon applicators because ‘plastic is very bad, it never goes away’.
Arnold Schwarzenegger (AKA the Terminator) is terminating plastic ‘coffee stirring sticks’ and using metal spoons instead to save the ocean.
Gisele Bundchen is ditching plastic bags. Did you know that ‘500 trillion plastic bags get used all over the world every year’?
Tom Felton (AKA Draco Malfoy) is also breaking up with straws ‘these things that we use for 2 minutes take up to 200 years to biodegrade’, and instead is replacing his straws with these wands…
So how are you going to make a difference in the world and join us all to #BeatPlasticPollution? Make a pledge, commitment or promise and switch to a reusable today. And once you’ve got that down pat, introduce another and another – sooner or later you’ll be plastic free. UNited we fight: Let’s UNdo the harm.
