1. You’re eating plastic and you probably don’t know it 

This just in: New research has shown that microplastics can be found in 90% of the table salt brands sampled worldwide. And Asian brands are worst-hit – because Asia has one of the biggest plastic problems. The plastic we have been feeding the ocean from our consumption is now coming back to haunt us.

2. Singaporean companies taking action on packaging

Single-use disposables are becoming a much-discussed topic and businesses in Singapore are slowly taking heed. From charging the consumption of plastic bags to switching to water dispensers instead of plastic bottles and installing wall-mounted shampoos, corporations in Singapore are taking the lead in making little changes to reduce their plastic consumption.

3. Malaysia – first SEAsian country to ban single-use plastic by 2030

Malaysian’s minister for the Environment announced that the country is launching a roadmap towards eliminating single-use plastics by 2030. Malaysia is the world’s eighth biggest plastic polluter, so this move will make waves in the pollution problem globally.

Kudos to Malaysia!

4. Unilever joins the ban on animal-tested cosmetics

A beauty giant company that owns 57 brands – many of which we probably use – this is a huge move for the cosmetics industry. Cruelty towards the animals used in make-up testing in the past (and in our present) has been shockingly disgusting and rampant. This ban is a move towards a kinder future.

A bold statement!

 

5. Phuket’s tourism going green to protect their beaches

The tourist boom and the growing population has transformed Phuket into an urban resort, which has brought numerous environmental issues to the surface- such as plastic use, pollution and the loss of biodiversity. Too many tourists in the area has resulted in devastating environmental and social impacts for this gorgeous city.

Green travel needs to happen stat.
