Giving with a green heart
For her work promoting awareness about environmental issues and reducing the use of single-use plastic
Emily is the co-founder and interim CEO of EcoDrive Hong Kong, a NGO dedicated to promote the awareness and reduction of single-use plastic, through education, corporate partnerships and community outreach programs. EcoDrive has co-produced mini-movie “Start Small, Start Now”, which has been screened at schools, corporations and conferences in Hong Kong, raising public awareness of the impact of single-use plastic and offering solutions. Emily is also the Founder and CEO of Empact28, an investment company that focuses on funding women entrepreneurs and businesses that have a positive social or environmental impact, providing them a platform to enter the Asian market. She is also an ardent philanthropist and advocate for women and children across the globe. She recently joined Harvard University Kennedy School’s Women Leadership Board. She was also appointed by the government to serve on the Hong Kong Women’s Commission, where she advises the special administrative region’s government on reforms to advance the wellbeing and interests of Hong Kong’s female community.
Emily’s philanthropy extends beyond China’s borders. She is a long-term supporter of The America Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). She served as co-chair for the inaugural gala in Hong Kong, where she helped to raise US$4 million in the fight against HIV and AIDS. She has spent time in Grenada volunteering at a local orphanage and lent her expertise to educational reform and capacity-building in Gambia, Africa.
