The Conscious Festival Presents: The Conscious Leader Fashion Bootcamp!

The Conscious Festival 2021 has a day of talks dedicated all for you fashion industry leaders out there. Pay attention, because this event is specially curated for you. Green Is The New Black presents – together with Ethiwork, Who Cares Chronicles and La CASERNE – a jam-packed, conscious learning experience for the changemakers in the fashion industry. With live programming in Paris, London, Singapore, and online? Wherever you are in the world, you won’t miss out.

Being a leader is hard. But being a conscious, green leader is even more challenging. That’s why we’ve put together a full programme to support you, fashion changemakers, on your journey. Whether you’re just starting, or you’ve never heard of sustainable fashion before, or you’re way ahead of the game? There’s going to be something for you. Every stakeholder in fashion, textile and luxury is invited to engage in new practices of leadership, through a commitment to yourself, the planet, and our society. Officially launching on September 24th, at LA CASERNE in Paris, the Conscious Leader Fashion Bootcamp is set to be a global movement, with physical gatherings in London and Singapore, happening simultaneously. (Part of, of course, our three-day offering of TALKS at The Conscious Festival.) Read on to find out more…

THE BRIEF OVERVIEW

Who is the Conscious Leader Fashion Bootcamp for? What will it be about? The Bootcamp is a tool for industry leaders across the fashion, textile and luxury industries. It will bring together executives and decision-makers to discuss key industry topics. The topics covered include: material innovations, transparency and traceability, and purpose-led organisation and inclusion.

Now, you already know that our event is held at the stunning LA CASERNE, but who are our other partners? Ethiwork is a social impact studio that develops strategies, implements impact actions, and creates involvement through training and purpose communication. WHo CAREs?! Chronicles is a platform that focuses on solutions to some of the world’s largest problems and challenges. From climate change to homelessness, diversity, equality, mental health, human rights to the refugee crisis. We’re so excited to be working with them to be bringing you this global programme. And without further ado, we present: the Conscious Leader Fashion Bootcamp.

PARIS

In a nutshell, the programming in Paris is running all day on Friday, September 24th, from 12pm to 6pm. Global industry leaders and experts will be discussing various topics, all towards unlearning and relearning as part of our TALKS. In between the talks sessions, join cutting-edge innovators who will be leading deep-dive discussions during live workshops. And on top of that, there’ll be various networking opportunities (locally and internationally) during lunchtime and throughout the evening.

Let’s talk specifics…

The day will open with an introductory keynote titled The Great 2020 Unlearn with the one and only Aditi Mayer, and Isabelle Lefort, founder of Paris Good Fashion. The keynote will be all about tackling racism and environmentalism across the industry, and a high-level overview on what the fashion industry can look to and do next. Then, we’ll have our first panel, The Techstyle Revolution, breaking down technologies that are shifting the needle. The panel features speakers from Pangaia, FINESSE, Global Fashion Exchange, and Who Cares Chronicles.

An-hour long Networking LUNCH on LA CASERNE Rooftop follows, in case by then you get hungry. Then, we have four breakout workshop rooms on the four topics. Materials Innovations, presented in partnership with Chargeurs PCC and Sustainable Angle. Transparency & Traceability, presented in partnership with Arianee. Circularity in Partnership, with WeTurn and Vestiaire Collective. And finally, Purpose-led Organisations, featuring Orosla de Castro, founder of Fashion Revolution!

Starting from raw materials, we can weave our way towards a better, more conscious fashion industry and economy.
Sophie Pignères, founder of WeTurn, who will be leading the workshop on Circularity in Partnership says: “We believe in the need to protect raw materials by keeping them as long as possible in our economy. By starting out in textiles, we hope to pave the way for new perspectives, new markets, and jobs for a more circular economy that respects our resources.”

After the workshops, we have a panel discussion on Sustainable Supply Chains featuring speakers from Kering, Good Fabric and Ekyog, Remake Our World, and author Dr Isabelle Delannoy, moderated by Sarah Kent, from Business of Fashion. Then, closing off the official programming, we have a presentation on How to embed your sustainability commitments within your brand, from Pixelis.

But if you thought the day ended there? The fun has just begun. At 6 pm, there’ll be a Cocktail reception on LA CASERNE’s rooftop. And at 6.30 pm, there will be a show, How would you innovate with 1 billion euros? presented by Time For The Planet, featuring a politician and mathematician, a TV host, France’s former Minister of Ecology, and an engineer and author. You won’t want to miss it! (PS: Keep your eyes peeled for a wacking and voguing dance class after too!)

LONDON

Our live London programming will happen at The Mills Fabrica in King’s Cross. A co-working, office and event space for sustainable innovators, The Mills Fabrica in London was the perfect choice for our London Conscious Gathering.

The day will kick off with live-streaming the introductory keynote The Great 2020 Unlearn, and the first panel, The Techstyle Revolution, from Paris. Then, there’ll be a live panel, in person this time, featuring two fashion changemakers. Edzard van der Wyck, from Sheep Inc., biophilic design that’s leveraging the best of nature, science and humans, to create knitwear that leaves behind zero emissions, zero harm and zero waste. And Edward Brial, from MATERRA, a planet-centric technology company working towards climate-resilient cotton agriculture. Of course, you’ll be learning from the best.

To round off the Conscious Leader Fashion Bootcamp in London, we return to live streaming from Paris. You’ll get to hear the panel discussion on Sustainable Supply Chains, and the closing keynote presentation on How to embed your sustainability commitments within your brand.

SINGAPORE

Didn’t think we forgot about the little red dot, did you? Our live programming in Singapore will happen at the Singapore Sustainability Academy, courtesy of our partner City Developments Limited. With only 90 spots available, you’ll want to grab your tickets fast. And, surprise! Urban farm and restaurant Open Farm Community will be serving all of our guests—that’s you!—with delicious plant-based meals. We’ll be partnering with Barepack for a zero-waste delivery, so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own at all. All you’ll need to bring is yourself, and a water bottle in case you get thirsty. And maybe a notebook to take down all of the in-depth insights you’ll hear…

Speaking of which, Singapore starts off with live, in-person programming (because of time differences). Kicking off the day will be Kae Hana, fashion lecturer and bio-materials researcher who will be giving a keynote on Closing the loop – making fashion circular. Then, there’ll be a panel titled The future of fashion is regenerative, featuring Merchandise Blue, The Fashion Pulpit, Lisa Von Tang, in a conversation moderated by Susannah Jaffer from ZERRIN. Ever wondered if fashion can truly be sustainable? Other programming to answer that is underway—so stay tuned.

Ending off the Conscious Leader Fashion Bootcamp in Singapore on September 24th will be the beginning of the Paris programming. So you all in Singapore will get to tune in to the introductory keynote and first panel from Paris too. (And if you want to catch up on the rest? Check out tickets for the Virtual Conscious Festival.)
