6 Things You Can’t Miss at EarthFest 2019 in Singapore!

You’ve probably heard that EarthFest Singapore is BACK on the 20th of January this year in Singapore…but what can you actually do there?

Fret not, we’ve rounded up the six best things worth doing and seeing at Earthfest Singapore 2019!

1. Catch the EarthFest Talks by Green Is The New Black

That’s right! We’ll be helping you start the year off on your greenest foot with 3 power hours of talks at EarthFest 2019. You’ll learn all about how you can break up with plastic, how to go low to zero waste, the fragility of our food system and its impact on the planet, how to be more plant-based and why sustainable businesses are the way forward. With a lineup of amazing speakers such as Kim Stengert (WWF), Amanda Teng (Everyday Vegan), Marialine Verdickt (CircleWerkz) and more, you’ll be revved up and prepared to play your part in fighting the green fight this year. Get your tickets so you’re ready to go and see our lineup of incredible speakers!

2. Find the next great read of your life at the 1-for-1 Book Swapping event by Secondsguru

Ah, don’t those words spark joy in your heart? Come swap your pre-loved literature for new loves at the EarthFest 2019 Book Swap. Run by Secondsguru, you’re sure to find a classic you’ll adore or even a thrilling new romance to keep you company come Valentine’s day. Did we also mention that it’s completely FREE? Just bring along a book (or 10- but not more) to exchange for another one. Only the heavens could imagine what treasures you’ll find. Find out more here.

3. Get your heartstrings pulled by catching the public screening of ‘Waste Land’ by Singapore Eco Film Festival

‘Waste Land’ is an uplifting feature documentary highlighting the transformative power of art and the beauty of the human spirit. Top-selling contemporary artist Vik Muniz takes us on an emotional journey from Jardim Gramacho, the world’s largest landfill on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, to the heights of international art stardom. This is one screening from The Singapore Eco Film Festival that you definitely don’t want to miss. Get your tickets before they’re gone for good.

4. Stitchaton by Green Angels

Was your New Year’s resolution for 2019 either to learn something new or reduce the amount of plastic bags you use? If so, we’ve got good news for you. Save the environment one re-usable bag a time by trying your hand at stitching re-usable bags out of upcycled materials, along with your friends and family. These bags will then be donated towards Green Angels’ go-green initiatives across Singapore. Fabric, sewing machines and even instructions are provided- all you have to do is show up with an open mind and fingers ready to sew. Read all about it here.

5. Singapore Really Really Free Market #59

From books, toys, and food to tarot card reading, hair cutting, poetry writing and even singing, find everything you need for the new year and more at the Really Really Free market! Based on the concept of giving and building a community based on sharing resources, caring for one another and improving the collective lives of all, this temporary market is where you’re bound to find friends and things you didn’t even know you needed. It’s also where you can give away your things or services back to the community. Did we mention that everything is free? Because it is. Really. See everything you need to know here.

6. Eco-Warrior Kids Corner by Orgayana

Sundays are for family, and at EarthFest it’s no different. Even the littlest members of your family will be educated and entertained, and Orgayana has got some amazing activities lined up to thrill! They’ll be making their own energy balls, creating their own speeches and drawings on how they’ll be changing the Earth, creating their own upcycled bookmarks, making their own seed balls and even learn all about composting! Their little minds will be sowed full of great green ideas for them to contribute to their own brighter, greener futures. Parents, find out all the nitty-gritty details you’ll need to know right here.

And those are our top six things that you’ve definitely gotta look out for and participate in at EarthFest 2019. But hey- there are A LOT more than just six things to do there- check out everything that’s going on right here, and get your tickets to enter the festival right here. We’ll see you there.
