The Green Collective Opens in Singapore – Bringing over 35 Eco Brands to You!

The Green Collective is a collective of inspiring eco-bosses who are here to connect consumers with people doing good green things. An eco-friendly lifestyle store helping you to go plastic-free, zero waste and greener with your fashion choices.

Check out this exclusive interview with the team behind The Green Collective-  you’ll definitely be seeing us at their swanky new location in Singapore.

Danielle Champagne, Mayur Singh, Agatha Lee and Adel Ng.

GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK: What sparked the Green Collective? How did you guys come together?

THE GREEN COLLECTIVE: There are 4 of us who co-founded The Green Collective SG. The common thread that connects us is our passion for the environment.  Each of us is passionate about a different aspect of sustainability.

  • Danielle Champagne runs Zhai Eco, a sustainable fashion brand, and is passionate about going vegan and reducing plastic at home
  • Agatha Lee “Agy” is a textile artist and advocates mending, upcycling and consuming what you need.
  • Mayur Singh of Coopita is passionate about empowering artisans around Asia and preserving traditional techniques.
  • Adel Ng is the founder of Taikensonzai and uses textile waste in her creations.

We were catching up over lunch at RealFood and Danielle had this crazy idea of building a platform for local sustainable brands to come together. One thing led to another and we felt that it was the perfect timing to start a Collective where conscious brands can help each other in the cut-throat business of retail. We had less than a month to get the Collective launched in April 2018, and today we have a store of over 2000sq feet. It’s been an amazing journey.

What exciting things can we expect from the physical store at The Collective and in future?

In a matter of 6 months, we have grown from over 15 local eco-friendly brands to more than 30! It’s been very exciting to see the community grow so quickly, and with our new permanent home we not only have eco-lifestyle, wellness and homeware products, but a new section for sustainable fashion comprising brands such as Matter, August Society, YouLiving, Ametsuchi, Baliza, Coopita, Zhai and OliveAnkara. Our outlet is very different from the traditional retail concept in that you will see our partner brands on duty at the Collective – it allows the customer the opportunity to connect with the people and the stories behind the brands.

We believe in the power of collaboration and empowering the public with useful skills that will help them on their green journey. Which is why we also have a dedicated community space which we affectionately call The Village – we’ll be hosting experiences, events and talks from here, so keep a look out for our updates.

What motivates the team to do what you’re doing and to get this going?

We make a great team and we thrive off each other’s positivity.  But what has kept us going is seeing customers outside the green community being interested in becoming sustainable, asking us questions and being curious. We’re excited that this is growing.

What are some of your favourite products that you guys carry or which ones would you like to lend a shoutout to?

We have over 2,100 products in our store – they are all so amazing that it’s hard to pick a favourite.

Where is The Green Collective located?

It’s easy to get to us. We are located at #01-36 to 41, KINEX Mall (formerly OneKM), 11 Tanjong Katong Road, and just a 10-minute walk from the nearest train station Paya Lebar (Circle Line. East West Line) Exit D.

How can Singaporeans take #LittleGreenSteps with you guys?

Think about how the things you consume impacts the planet and people. Come visit and speak to us (we’re open every day) and find out how your choices can have a positive impact.
