The 10 Things You Absolutely Cannot Miss At The Conscious Festival Powered By Holland & Barrett

Browse a shortlist of unmissable activities at this year’s Conscious Festival powered by Holland & Barrett. From riveting talks, immersive workshops, mindful games, unique musicians, a conscious marketplace and plenty of vegan grub, you’ll have no trouble minding your time this weekend.

We are just days away from The Conscious Festival powered by Holland & Barrett in Singapore and we want to help simplify the schedule for you so we rounded up some of the top things we think you shouldn’t miss. That said, we still recommend that you come down for a full day (or two) and explore the festival on your own accord. But take a look at where we recommend starting below:

Barney Swan’s talk about the individual impacts that can actually move the needle

We’re pretty excited about this one. After connecting with Barney and his father Robert aboard our Arctic Expedition earlier this year, we’re humbled that he’s agreed to deliver a talk at the Conscious Festival this year. Following his trek to the South Pole on reusable energy, Barney endeavours to clean up 360 million tons of CO2 before the year 2025. He also travels around the world educating people on bringing actionable solutions, adventure, and passion into the UN’s sustainable development goals, and now it’s our turn in Asia.

Dr Aimee Maxwell’s keynote called ‘Deep Adaptation: A Map for Navigating Climate Tragedy’

Dr Aimee Maxwell is a psychologist from Melbourne, Australia who has been working to improve wellbeing through international, longitudinal projects for over a decade. After having already seen radical changes in our climate, Aimee believes that we need to physically and psychologically prepare society to reduce suffering. But how do we cushion society against the changes we are too late to stop? Aimee’s keynote will explore the current global situation in a way that helps refocus people on what’s important in life while our social order collapses under the weight of its own consumption.

Talks are some of the most riveting activities at the Conscious Festival year after year

An ecstatic dance to start your weekend off right

Join us on Saturday morning to open the festival with a unique experience that started on the island of Ibiza. It’s called ecstatic dance and is a style of free form dance in which the music is the teacher. DJs will lead the event and your only job is to allow your body to move exactly how it wants to move, nothing else. Get an early start on Saturday from 9:30 am – 11:15 am. Radical self-expression and costumes are encouraged.

An upcycling workshop with Rehyphen®

Ready, Cassette, Go! is an upcycling workshop that will teach participants to weave a cassette or videotape into a piece of MusicCloth®! In case you don’t know what a cassette is (yep, these people do exist…they’re called millennials), they are how the 80s and 90s listened to music and watched movies. While epic and revolutionary in terms of technological advancements in media, all their little plastic components are still sitting on this planet. This workshop happens on Saturday at 5 pm.

A free beauty product swap

I’ve never met a woman who didn’t have a drawer full of beauty products she doesn’t use. The Conscious Festival is your chance to unload it all and take home something you might actually use instead. Hosted by Beauty Uncovered, learn about ethical beauty by bringing your unused or lightly used makeup for a free swap. Find Beauty Uncovered at Level 1 booth 19.

Pick up some freebies

Pay a visit to the NooTrees and BioHome stall from some freebies. The first 50 people to sign-up on the BioHome landing page will receive a free starter kit. NooTrees will also have some panda plushies up for grabs. Together they will be hosting some games at the booth so drop by from some free fun.

A chance to recycle your old bedding

Have you got old bed linen lying around that you won’t use again but for some reason haven’t thrown out? Sunday Bedding has a solution! Bring your old, unstained, and untorn bedding to Sunday Bedding and enjoy 10% off new (and conscious) sheets. Find Sunday Bedding at Level 1 booth 3.

The opportunity to investigate microplastics

You’ve heard the word, but what actually are microplastics? Learn about the sneaky buggers through a hands-on experience with the Ayer Ayer Project. Head to its shore debris table and see if you can pick out microplastics through an interactive experiment. Find the Ayer Ayer project at Level 1 booth A.

Bedazzle yourself, your family and friends

Who doesn’t love a little eco-glitter? Bring your friends and family to get festival-ready with us at the Green Is The New Black booth to elevate your outfit with biodegradable, plant-based glitter. At the same time, you’ll be able to enter our free raffle to win lots of great prizes including a staycation at PARKROYAL on Pickering.

This year we have more vegan food in the Village than ever before

Shop til you drop

While we don’t always condone the idea of spending and consuming, this is the exception. Think of our Village as a marketplace of mindful brands, nearly 100 of them, where you can buy anything from reusable bags, probiotic tonics, and ethical clothes to organic wine and natural soaps. You can also chow down on vegan grub from Vatos Urban Tacos, Urban Bites, and The Good Burger.

The Conscious Festival by Green Is The New Black takes place from 11 am – 7 pm on Saturday 2nd November & Sunday 3rd November 2019 at the South Beach, 26 Beach Road, Singapore
