GreenDay is a Singapore-based eco-marketplace that allows people to shop for new and used lifestyle items, including clothing, homewares, cosmetics, and food. The app offers a simple, rewarding way for users to shop more consciously by buying from eco-friendly merchants. The app also has a ‘gems’ reward system, whereby users can earn ‘gems’ just by browsing products. A certain amount of gems leads to certain rewards.

VISION & MISSION

GreenDay’s vision is to inspire sustainable consumerism and help to change people’s unsustainable behaviours and mindsets using digital technology. GreenDay is currently working on a web version of the app and, in the future, hopes to receive VC funding, expand to five countries within Southeast Asia, and gain 1,000 daily active users on the platform.

WHY IT’S CONSCIOUS

GreenDay’s marketplace encourages consumers both to keep preloved items in a circular economy and to shop at local, sustainable companies. The brand interviews each of its merchants and checks that their products are sustainable and high quality before passing them through a panel of experts to get a second opinion.

As GreenDay is a digital marketplace, it has few environmental costs. The company also adheres to ethical and fair trade practices, is carbon neutral, and follows zero waste practices. Additionally, the app offers tips on sustainability from local experts through its online community and offers users a reward system.

MEET THE FOUNDERS

GreenDay was founded by Shiqing, Prem, and Uzair. When looking online for eco-friendly, high quality products, they found themselves overwhelmed by choices, confused about quality, and frustrated by user interfaces. Calling on their varied backgrounds and melding together their love of playing mobile games and their passion for the environment, they decided to build their own eco-friendly marketplace that would be interactive, planet-friendly, educational, and easy to use.
